A Little Update From Courtney

A Little Update From Courtney

Hi everyone!

I know I don’t share a ton of personal stuff on here, but I wanted to give you all a little update on how mom life has been treating me so far!
For those of you who don’t know, my husband and I (Courtney) welcomed our first child, Blakely Rowe, on May 18th, 2020.
She was delivered via emergency c-section, after her heart rate dropped following my epidural. While it wasn’t the delivery I had envisioned, we had an amazing team of doctors and nurses who made this scary situation seamless, and delivered us a perfectly healthy baby. It’s crazy to think that was over 7 weeks ago now! Seriously, It feels like just yesterday we were leaving the hospital.
So many people have asked what it was like delivering a baby in the middle of a pandemic, and I have to say it was a blessing in disguise! While we would have loved for our families to be able to meet her in the hospital, it was so nice to have a couple days to ourselves to get adjusted and spend some time together as a family with our new little girl. Here in Winnipeg the cases are extremely low, so I can’t speak for others experience's in different cities. But if you’re in Winnipeg, the new Women’s Hospital was amazing and we felt completely comfortable and safe the entire time.
Blakely has been such an amazing baby so far! For the most part she’s sleeping pretty good (let me tell you the baby shusher is a miracle worker!) I can usually get a solid three hour stretch when she goes to bed, and then she’s usually up every two hours or so after that. She does love to be held though! I swear every time we have visitors over she is a complete angel and as soon as everyone leaves and we put her down, she cries.
While we haven’t been going out with her to too many places, we have managed to make it out the cabin a couple times! We’ve been using THIS pack-n-play, which has been amazing for travelling. It’s compact, easy to move, and is a bassinet, a changing table and a play area all in one!
I’ve also been loving THIS diaper bag (THIS one is also a great option) . It has a ton of pockets and the best part is that It comes with a changing pad insert, which is so nice so you don’t have to put your baby down on a random surface.
We’ve been loving going for walks— we try and go for a least one long one a day, just to get out of the house and get some fresh air. I go for my check-up this week, so I’m really hoping I’ll be cleared to workout and then I’ll start running with her! (If anyone has any good jogging stroller recommendations let me know!)
All in all, I have to say I’ve been loving motherhood. We’ve been into the office a few times, but for most part are doing things from home right now! Blakely was supposed to be attending her first buying show for Boes in August, but now that it's cancelled, everything will be done virtually (which honestly will be a lot easier for me, although I was really looking forward to getting her input 😉). Before I know it, she’s going to be the one accessorizing me and keeping me up to date on the latest trends!
If you’re a new mom, let me know in the comments below what your favourite baby items have been so far! I’d love to connect and hear others experiences!
